Hello folks. I'm an old 64 year old burnout who's been learning the chromatic harmonica for about 2 years, slow but sure. I played cornet in a local community band for 34 years. I gave it up because I realized that I stunk at it..I'm a slow learner I guess.
Anyway, I really missed the whole music thing and realized that I wanted to learn another instrument that played music that I love, and here I am. My preference is playing melodies and my goal is to become proficient enough to be able to play (for free) at nursing homes, adult homes, etc.
How long have you been playing harmonica?
About 2 years.
Do you consider yourself a beginner, amateur, or pro?
Amateur
Do you play any other instruments?
Used to play Cornet.
Have you been in any bands?
Just a local community band.
Of all instruments, why play harmonica?
How do you approach playing harmonica? Do you know music theory or play other instruments?
I read music notation as well as tabs. I know basic theory.
What part of the world are you from? What do you do for a living?
I live in Rochester, New York which is located in Western New York. I'm a Database Administrator for a publishing company. This is my second career, former small town postmaster.
Who are your favorite musicians and harmonica players?
Tommy Morgan, Toots, Sigmund Groven.

Hi JP,
Well, your previous music training should really accelerate your chromatic harmonica playing!
Welcome aboard!
