Well I guess I'm done with this site. I've posted a few things awhile back  and got no response in over a month. If you guys can just blow me off, then I can do the same. For those of you who've supported me , I'm grateful. As for the rest , play on , I know I will. Beez, take care and thanks for the BT's.

Gear Lust / Re: Kaine 12 Hole Chromatic for $18.99

Not sure but I just came  across another  page offering the Kaine.z Chromatic for around $84. So the $18 may be a scam or misprint. Or just a really inferior version . Oh well. I'll stick with Swan.

Gear Lust / Kaine 12 Hole Chromatic for $18.99
« on: April 15, 2014, 11:03:53 AM »
Has anyone tried this Chrom yet ? It looks like a very affordable practice Chrom. At less than $20 for a 12 hole, I know it's probably cheaply made but it could be ok for practicing .

Harmonica Playing Technique Q & A / Strictly A Chromatic player
« on: March 19, 2014, 03:23:55 PM »
Just curious, as most of you already know or can tell by my post, I'm strictly a Chrom player , meaning that I use a Chrom for everything I play, from Blues , Jazz, Smooth Jazz, Big Band , Standards, Pop, Rock, R&B and I've even tried a little classical , which , to tell you the truth is really out of my comfort zone and so I don't even pretend to be into playing it . When it comes to playing a Harp, the Chromatic is my weapon of choice. How many others on this site are strictly Chrom players ? I'm not trying to turn this site into another SlideMeister.com , as mentioned , I'm just curious. With all this said, I've got another question, How do I become a Chrom Master ?

As a mostly Chromatic player , I'm not to impressed when I hear Diatonic's used in Jazz but on this particular piece , the Diatonic is working pretty well. I like his quick runs.

Yes, Philip is a great player. He's also very inspirational. I really admire his classical stuff. For me though, since Stevie is not really a dedicated Jazz player but could easily be if he wanted to , I think Tollak Ollstad could be the guy to carry Toot's torch. Next to Stevie , he's one of my favorites on a Chrom. As for me, I'm hoping to do for Smooth Jazz what Toot's did for Traditional Jazz. I've got a few years to work on it. Here's to dreaming big.

I think you are right, Hermine is one of my Facebook friends and has been very cool and supportive about some of my stuff that I've sent to her . She definitely has some of Toot's playing down. Here's another one of my Facebook friends and a very nice lady who has also been very supportive of my playing. I wish I could work and learn from either one of these beautiful hearted women.

If I were a true Jazz player maybe I could do it in about 15 or 20 years but I don't feel that I really am. I like some traditional Jazz stuff but I'm more interested in doing something in Smooth Jazz. And to tell you the honest truth, I liked Toot's stuff but he never really did for me what Stevie's stuff has. If I were going to follow in anyone's foot steps,it would be Stevie Wonder but that's a whole other discussion that I'd better just leave alone. I've already experienced enough negative reactions to that statement. Anyway, Toot's was and is a real inspiration and at this point , I could only dream of having a career like his.

Just read about Toot's retirement and wish him the best in it , he along with Stevie , has done so much for the Chromatic Harmonica , we Chromatic players owe him so much for inspiring us and future generations to come . So who do you think will carry his torch and be his successor as the number one Jazz Chromatic Harmonica player ?

Harmonica Playing Technique Q & A / Re: Accompaniment
« on: March 10, 2014, 04:57:49 PM »
This is how I originally followed this song until someone pointed out that the two harps weren't clear enough to distinguish who was playing what and that I should either do the octave thing or just play on my own with a BT. Actually, the fact that they had a little trouble telling the two harps apart was actually a great compliment for me as far as I was concerned. It was all just practice so I was good with it either way. Thanks

P.S. I just listened to your BT and I like it, my problem is that I don't know enough about coming up with original stuff to go with the BTs and I usually just end up following something in the original piece until I can improv on my own. Guess I should probably take a few music classes to go with my ear playing. Anyway, thanks , I'll try to come up with something.

Harmonica Playing Technique Q & A / Accompaniment
« on: March 10, 2014, 01:37:53 PM »
I was told as general rule of accompaniment , that if I'm going to follow someone as I'm doing here with Stevie , then I should play higher when he plays low and vice versa. Tried it on this take , it is much easier to hear the two separate harps. As before , this one has it's hit's and misses also and no ending but it was still fun to experiment.

Harmonica Playing Technique Q & A / Re: chromatic harmonica dynamics
« on: March 09, 2014, 11:20:36 PM »
....but the big stick is one bugger that seems to be problematic for newb's.

Learning to play the chromatic harmonica isn't more difficult then learning to play the diatonic.
As for dynamics: you can pretty much do anything you can do on a bluesharp on a chromatic and visa-versa.

-- Ed

I agree ED, in-fact , I think the Chrom might even be a little easier to play in someways because getting a half tone up or down just requires the push of a button. I also think that it really just depends on the player and what they want to accomplish with the instrument. I you really want to play a certain way bad enough, you'll just have to work at it hard enough to make it happen.
