Title: Greetings from Boston
Post by: jzinmass on August 28, 2012, 09:03:48 AM
Howdy. I finally posted and signed up on this site. Some history: 40 years ago as I commuted in LA, I figured blues harp was one productive way to spend time while stuck in the 'frozen traffic' of Santa Monica fwy (keyboard was too challenging. I played in college and then other life aspects interrupted. 3 years ago upon retirement (now living in Cambridge), I started playing again.
Way back, I was charmed by Butter, Cotton and in recent years appreciate Little Walter, Ricci, Del Junco, Sonny Terry and many others. i also listen to be-bop and would love to work some of that sound into my playing.
I have been very fortunate to have some lessons with Annie Raines.
Look forward to contributing to the site/community.

Welcome onboard, jzinmass!

This site is excellent for picking up on playing music after years of absence. I stopped playing for about 30 years before finding this site - and used to commute in L.A. traffic too.

Don't hesitate to ask questions on things like equipment choices and setup - because it's more fun to be playing music than configuring computers  ;D

Any good harp player learned how to drive with one knee, bounce the other, and jam on Cali Freeways.  I learned a bunch in Tampa traffic.  Always wondered what they were thinking when they looked over at the stoplights..

I'm new and old at this site as well.   Life got in my way after playing in that Tampa traffic.  Wife..House..New house->new shit to do-->Cave in to wife->Have baby.: Sneak to garage and play harp.

F it. ......shit, gotta go, wife says i have to change my son's G@& D@%! diaper,  cause she changed the last one, ya know.

Keep posting, listening, voting, and bitching (thats how it gets better).

Hey Jazzinmass. Brett and I are also from the Boston area. Welcome to the site!  FYI: Sept. 9 is Heatherfest in Norton - my favorite blues festival and it's in a backyard:
