Ha ha, I don't go to open mics for the same reason, you sit all night to play for 10 minutes or you can stay home and play for 2 hours.

But on the other side of it,  you really do need to go out and play in front of people.  When I play in front of people, I feel like (A) I just made a huge mistake and should stop  (B)  feel like I am giving blood.    Ha ha, so it is a necessary evil!

I had a hard time deciding to end the jam.  I was definitely divided about it.  I have run it for around 20 years.  I suspect it was the first online jam  of any sort ever in existence.

It seems the older you get, time speeds up and you have time to do less.  Or coming from the other direction and more accurately, as I get older I have less energy!

Boy, I will miss this site.

But hopefully, I will not miss you guys can you can friend me on Facebook, and we can keep up our musical adventures, even if they sometimes flow slow like maple syrup from a tree!

Hi All,
I am going to retire the site.  I invite you all to become friends with me on facebook.  Look for Rick Beall in Hamtramck.  There has been no harmonica related content from me in a while, even though harmonica is like my second throat, but I do play slide guitar and hope to eventually post something about that somewhere.

I will put up a permanent but simple page listing the jam winners for all the jams, and thanking everyone for participating.

Thanks for asking Floppy.  I am fine.   Work and various other things have become very time consuming.  I am going to retire the jam.

Hi All,
I am a little tardy in restarting the jam.  I will restart it this week, or next week.

Main Stage / Dangerous Pickup Lines --Lyrics
« on: March 12, 2018, 09:21:31 PM »
Hi All,

BeelzeBob asked to see the lyrics to "Dangerous Pickup Lines", so here they are.

I met the prettiest girl
with the prettiest curl

up on the hill
where they grow the dill

I know that, she does think of me.

I met the prettiest girl
with the prettiest curl

The bluest eyes
that I ever spied

She turned this way, walking  back to me.

Well, I thought of a line --another one too!
I made up a sonnet and I made up a blues, but when I

opened my mouth and what do you think out flew?

She patted my back threw me on the ground
then she jumped on me up and down
Everybody cryin', he's  dyin' from his own pickup line.

Well they lowered me slow and they they buried me deep
they said I was the guy with secrets to keep
but what do you think they carved for my epitat?

Self immolation on a pickup line
Being tongue tied isn't even a crime
Don't be  so stoked, you choke on your own pickup line(s).

G
Maybe your pickup lines only  work on yourself but not on others
Keep that in mind, and you survive for another  ...

day or two.

Hi All,

Welcome to Jam 34!

We have something different for you in this jam.  A prize!

A prize provided by BeelzeBob.   The person who gets the most points from the other players will win a harmonica in whatever key he wants!  The harmonca will be either a brand new Special 20, Marine Band or Session Steel.  How do you like that, BeelzeBob is not only letting you pick out the key of the harmonica, but also letting you pick out the brand of harmonica you want!

The Jam ends in July 2018.

Well, it's time to start blowing!

Administration & Announcements / Winners of Jam 33
« on: March 11, 2018, 07:54:35 PM »
Hi All,

Jam 33 is over.

Lips Angelo had the most songs that went gold, followed by Floppy Lips and Frosty.

Frosty had the best song as judged by his peers, "Phone Booth Philanderer" with  45 votes.

If you look at the top 3 favorite backing tracks you will see  BeelzeBob's name all over the place.  BeelzeBob has been the main supply of backing tracks for the Jam since 2011,  seven years!  That is amazing!  Thank you BeelzeBob!

I feel like we are all growing up here together   ... well, you know, growing from a 50 year old man to a 60 year old man.   We all have music in our bones and it must come out!

I have copied the details from the Jam Statistics below.

Thank you everyone for a great jam!

I'm glad you got a sound out of them you liked.

When I said that the mic was "dull" sounding, what I meant was that all the highs seemed to be filtered out of it.  Along that vein of thought, so maybe if you had a very bright sounding amp it might be a solution.

$119 for their low end harmonica.  You won't be sharing that harmonica with the drunk guy next to you at the party.

That is a cool riff you are playing.  Maybe that is a 7th chord?
