Isn't She Lovely by Paul Lassey
« on: August 02, 2013, 10:58:45 PM »
I was looking for some ideas on how to improvise to this and found a Paul Lassey version.  He used to post here fairly frequently for a couple years, maybe 2005-6 and a little beyond as well?  Anyway, here it is:

I don't think he overblows either.  Gets a little crazy by the third chorus, but still.

Paul,

You have so many excellent youtube videos. I was watching/listening/enjoying for a while yesterday.

"Medley/JJMilteau" is cool.

Please, I mean no offense at all but from someone who's been playing the Chrom as long as I have and knows this song pretty well. Playing isn't she lovely on a Diatonic just does not work for me. Like comments about the Blues being in a Diatonic Harp domain, Isn't She Lovely is a tune that should be done on a Chromatic.

Ha ha, RNav, you're just always jonesing for that Stevie Wonder tone.

Paul is just giving you another flavor.    8)

Yeah, you're probably right, for me , there isn't a Diatonic or a Chromatic played like a Diatonic , on the planet that really does it for me the way Stevie's Chromatic does. Stevie's style is what got me interested in playing in the first place and to this day , after almost 40 years of playing in that style , it's still what motivates me to keep playing . I guess after playing that way for so long, that style is in my blood and is just what get's me going. No offense to any other players out there , it's just who I am.

that's why playing it on a diatonic harp is so cool.
