Title: Blues On Broadbeach
Post by: Matt on May 18, 2016, 05:14:46 PM
I'm playing Blues On Broadbeach (http://bluesonbroadbeach.com/) again this year with Bluescorp. If you are around Australia's Gold Coast this weekend you can enjoy all of the bands for free. This is one of the best festivals in the country. Hope to see one or two of you Aussies there. We will be performing on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. If you are interested in catching up over a few beers and talking harp, just come up and say hello.

Cheers.

We had a great festival and a highlight for me was being complimented on my playing by Phil Wiggins. I'll post a couple of video links in a few days. Another highlight was seeing Matt The Welder's new JT30 tatoo  :D

He did say that he has been thinking about visiting this site again. Maybe we will see him here again soon?

The festival sounds like it was a fantastic experience.  I look forward to seeing some videos.

Harry from Legends posted one video, a blues called 'Grown Man Cry'. I was fighting feedback due to the monitors, which were cranked way too high, and was kind of trapped at the edge of the stage for a few songs until things got sorted.
We played on a huge stage the next day (with a gigantic video screen) and the on-stage sound was much better.

Back line provided for all performances. Last year I lugged my Blues Deville around the festival but this year I just took the Junior (and it stayed in the car anyway). I used the provided hardware this year - a Hot Rod Deville 410 for the harp and a Hot Rod Deville 212 for the guitar.

In the video posted below the sound crew wouldn't let me crank the harp amp (I had to leave it on 3) which meant the tubes weren't really working as they should. In stark contrast, the next show (on the big stage) I used the exact same setup and had the the 410 set on 7. The sound was huge, a cool mix of rusty barbed wire and melting butter. Hopefully some video of the show on the bigger stage will surface.
For the gear nerds I'm using a Astatic JT30 bullet with a Shure controlled reluctance element, into a Kinder Anti-Feedback Device, into a Lone Wolf Harp Tone+, into the Fender Hot Rod Deville. I have a Boss Digital Delay in the effects chain but rarely use it because I prefer the reverb tank in the amp.

Another clip has surfaced from our second show at Blues On Broadbeach. This time it's the title track to our 2013 album 'Don't Wanna Be Famous'.
