It Is What It Is
« on: August 18, 2015, 10:44:08 PM »
Here's a video our band made recently to help promote our new CD. It's not a really professional production but it's the first step towards making better digital promotional material. More will follow over the next months, hopefully including some kind of mini-doco vids rather than song clips. I don't at all like being in the limelight, let alone the spotlight, but for the sake of having any sort of career in music at all I'm just going to shut up and get on with it.

This is the title track from our new CD, it's a slow blues in the key of E called 'It Is What It Is'. Thanks for listening.

That's the best ensemble playing I have heard from a blues band in years.  If I saw that live, I would say it was the best I had ever personally heard.

The harmonica playing is gorgeous.  Gorgeous tone and you play in the mix so well, weaving in and out.

Really fantastic!

That is some tasty playing Matt - comping is bang on, adds to the overall band without bringing attention to the harp. Solo work is bang on for the flavour of the song. Cool stuff - congratulations!

Thanks for the kind words.

Here's a clip of lesser video and audio quality. The footage was spliced together from a few different sources from a live performance at Blues On Broadbeach, so the audio 'is what it is'. The band were a little fast out of the gates with this one and it was tricky to keep my syncopated comping on the right side of the beat because of the slightly quicker tempo but I managed to keep in the groove. So, in front of a huge crowd, this is a warts-and-all-performance that I barely managed to pull off. I was pretty happy with the solo that emerged when it counted the most, though, and so I live to harp another day...

Really great!   After that solo you seemed to be fully warmed up and revved up!
