Smokey Robinson as songwriter

I saw him on the Daryl Hall show, does anybody know if he plays an instrument? He wrote all those great songs, what did he compose on? I wonder about a lot of songwriters that you never see with an instrument in their hands.

His voice is his instrument. One of the greats for sure. On my list , he's right up their with Mavin , Stevie and Michael. My four favorite artist of all time.

I have a vague memory that he writes on the piano. I think I read something about him where when he first met Berry Gordy, Smokey had about 100 songs sketched out.
