Hello from Greece
« on: July 29, 2013, 04:51:32 AM »
Hello guys, i am very happy to be joining you here. I am gonna go with the Question - Answer style, since it seems to me fun and easy. 8)

How long have you been playing harmonica?
I started playing  diatonic on January 2012. Last month i picked up a chromatic as well.

Do you consider yourself a beginner, amateur, or pro?
i ve been playing quite a lot since, i think i can be classified as an amateur.

Do you play any other instruments?
I am mainly a singer. I also play basic guitar. But since i decided i only enjoy to play and sing the blues anymore, i really feel the need to be playing an instrument well enough to be able to imrovise.

Have you been in any bands?
I ve been in several amateur rock bands in the past. But now I am in a Blues Rock band with my best friends and we are trying to record our first EP.

Of all instruments, why play harmonica?
I love every aspect of it, and it came naturally to me from the day i picked it up.

How do you approach playing harmonica?  Do you know music theory or play other instruments?
I do know music theory (not the advanced stuff), but i believe it doesnt help that much with the harmonica. I just took some youtube lessons from Mr. Gussow, then i started jamming to backing tracks using my ears only. That's why I am gonna rely on you guys on the criticism that is gonna make me better.

What part of the world are you from? What do you do for a living?
I am from Athens, Greece and I am a pharmacist.

Who are your favorite musicians and harmonica players?
Junior Wells, Little Walter.

Well its good to see someone from the other part of the world, being  a chemist means you can send Mr Beal and most of us some Viagra tab's so you don't need to donate if you get the swing of this site.

Welcome!!! :)

Greetings & welcome.
Would love to know whether there are  blues bars in Athens- places where you can jam.
Down and out in sunny Athens--could be an interesting mix-intriguing sound.
I can appreciate how tough it is right now ( e.g., see this week's BusinessWeek cover story)- so hope you are managing okay.
Cannot wait to hear you.
thanks for joining.

Thank you all for the warm welcome!

About the Viagra, I am gonna try first to achieve the same results with my uploaded songs. If it doesn't work, I ll just mail the real thing.  ;)

As for blues jams in Athens, there is only a handful of bars that sometimes play blues music or events. And the best greek bands are mostly noticed in other countries.
But if you want to hear that greek blues sound, check out on YouTube "Small Blues Trap", "limpin express", or the godfathers and more classic "Blues Cargo"

About the crisis things are gettin worse every day I am afraid...

Finally I am gonna solve some issues with my inability to use recording software, and upload a song after my holidays, in a couple of days!

See you all then, and thanks again.

Everyone here has dealt with the complexities of recording software. Don't hesitate to ask questions, or to search the Forum archives. It's more fun to play music than to spend excess time configuring software  :D
