Gear Lust / Software vs hardware effects
« on: August 29, 2015, 12:16:08 PM »
Learning the new GarageBand has been a struggle - especially with the effects that I eventually found. I've also struggled with pedals (HarpTone, Harp Delay, and Harp Attack) into my amps and then mixing the amp into the computer for recording. I've been impressed with the quality of tone and effects that many on this forum get with their pedal set up as well as those who use software effects. I find it relatively easy to use the software because I can hear the difference as I apply the effect whereas there's lots of back and forth adjustments to set up the sound I want before I finally record.

I'm very curious as to what others on this website use and think.

So I finally got to met and play with Lips at Grossman's jam when I was in Toronto. Didn't manage to get any video but here's a couple of photos that show us having fun. He is even cooler in person. Thanks for a great night Mike!

Administration & Announcements / Removing Backing Track
« on: December 15, 2014, 05:13:55 PM »
Hey Rick - trying to learn Band in a Box and uploaded a first crack but something went wrong in changing the file from M4a to an MP3 and lost some of the info. Didn't notice until I had it uploaded to HarmonicaBoogie. Could you either point me to directions to remove it or just remove it yourself. When I get the thing figured out, I'll repost it.

Thank

Administration & Announcements / Wow, What a Start
« on: March 04, 2014, 06:50:28 PM »
Been away for a bit and just getting back to the site. WOW, totally knocked out by the new talent and the "golden oldies" as well as the backing tracks that have been posted. Big time thanks to BeelzeBob for some great work!!

Now my semi annual plea to the new guys. I am sincerely impressed by the talent and posts I have listened to. PLEASE think about commenting on your harp buddies posts as well as posting your own and waiting for others to comment. It is a two way street. Nuff said.

Now to the donation page to make sure we have enough to keep this thing going!!

Recording Tips & Tricks / Recording two tracks (dobro and harp)
« on: March 06, 2013, 03:51:21 PM »
How do you go about recording two separate tracks to have them more distinct? I just record the one and then go back and record another. Some of the comments on my 'dobro/harp' recordings seem to suggest separating them more. WOuld you do this by recording in stereo (one track for each?) I'm not sure what 'separating them more' would involve and if it is possible given my limited equipment.

Any ideas out there?? Thanks

Main Stage / New Years Resolution ??
« on: January 05, 2013, 03:47:59 PM »
Or maybe New Jam Resolution - I will only take the time to listen and comment on songs posted by those who take the time to comment on my posts. - I am prepared to hear why I should do otherwise but I am getting tired of the one way street in so many cases.

BUT I gotta thank those that do take the time and have commented and helped me over the many jams I've been a member. You guys are great and make this site what it is!!

Misc. Conversation / Hope everyone safe

Not sure of everyone's whereabouts but I sure hope everyone is safe and sound and doesn't experience any property damage from "Sandy". Man, watching TV news from the east coast sure has an impact.

Be safe folks and take all precautions. Momma Nature doesn't choose carefully. She is indiscriminate. Hey, is there a song in there?
