Main Stage / Re: Always been more of a chromatic fan UNTIL TODAY

Yep, I'm back as well for a quick hello and to see what everyone's up to!

Jason Ricci is one of my faves too - saw him live once and met him, and I count it as one of the best live performances I've ever seen by any musician.

He had just recorded this song, which is a good showcase for his style, a slow one, in contrast to a lot of his lightning fast songs. Check out the solo that starts at 4:56.

Great work, Mike!

The cool thing to me is that if I heard these songs and didn't know you were on them, I'd probably recognize your playing style.

Always loved Chino's playing.

He even got kudos on that video from Wm Clarke's widow, high praise indeed!

I was ROTFLMAO. Even more so when I found out the guy who made it is a harp buddy who I've been at jams with for years and sat in with his band in the past.

Brilliant parody of a conversation between a harp player and his wife before he heads out to his weekly blues jam!

Not safe for work due to language!

Eric,

So sorry to hear of your health challenges. I feel like all of us harmonicaboogie current players and alumni are like one big extended family of harp players, and it's always tough to hear when one of us is having difficulties in life.

I'm glad to see you reaching out and staying in touch. I remember your work and supportive spirit here well and would love to hear some of your 'greatest hits' again.

Warm regards,

Brett

Man, you can wail, Mitch. I found this video of you playing with Rod Piazza and was blown away.

Hope you find the time to post some of your playing on this jam with us mere mortals.  8)

Cheers,

Way cool, Bob, that really brought back memories!

I think I remember all but one of those great players.

Rick, you should take a bow as well because it's your site that attracted, nurtured, and showcased not just greats like these, but the rest of us everyday harp players as well!

Hammond played in my town arts center a few years back.

He is explosive on harp, played in a neck rack no less while playing guitar!

It's not completely your ears - the harp volume was low in some parts - when I wasn't close enough to the mike - and the band was playing pretty loud, trying to be heard over all the partying going on!

I swear there was someone in the audience playing an instrument too - at a few points during the song you can hear some droning notes - though I didn't see anyone carrying bagpipes!

Not an ideal situation, but playing a favorite song of mine with an Irish band at my local pub on St. P's day is still a great memory.

I sat in with a local Irish band in our neighborhood pub today, on the song Dirty Old Town - originally written and performed by Ewan MacColl, and superbly covered by my favorite Irish punk band, The Pogues!

It was fun woodshedding a song like this to stretch my playing in a different direction from the blues.

This was played in first position in the key of E.

Slainte!
